The Garfield de la Mothe Nursing Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to providing individuals with extraordinary potential the opportunity and necessary support system to attain a nursing education in the United States.
The vision is to improve the lives of individuals so that they can, in turn, positively impact the lives of others for generations.
Garfield de la Mothe is a Logistics and Supply Chain Management professional with over 20 years of experience in Government Contracting, Program Management, Project Management, and Transportation Management. As a U.S. Army Captain, this veteran completed two deployments to Iraq. And, recently, as an independent contractor, he was the Program Manager for the Afghanistan Logistics Specialist Essential Function Training Program who was charged with increasing the capability of the National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) to assume responsibility for their self-sustainable logistic needs.
His extensive managerial experience has contributed to his “can do” attitude, relentless determination, and steadfast nature to do the “hard right instead of the easy wrong”. The aforementioned combined with his strong desire to give back are just a few things that he brings to the table as he journeys through the founding of this organization. For over 13 years, he has donated money to the Fireman’s Fund, Salvation Army, and many other deserving organizations. He has also, annually, participated in food drives, back-to-school drives, and served food to those less fortunate over the holidays. As a frequent traveler, he has also participated in Pack for A Purpose which allows individuals to “make a difference around the world by using available space in their luggage to provide supplies to the communities visited”.
Garfield is very excited about the impact that this organization will have on aspiring nurses, in Grenada, for years to come. He believes with opportunity and education anything is possible - that one child can change the world.
